Feeling awful that the kids haven't a fun day with me this week and I had to leave them yesterday at Nanny Pat's for a day in London. The mummy guilt is a constant battle for me. So today I've booked us our first experience of an escape room. Now it's just me and the two Mini K's, not sure we will solve the clues on our own. There's lots of room themes to choose from. We've gone for Alice in Wonderland.

The experience starts off well and we find a secret passage way which freaks the kids out.

"Mummy, you go first" Noel then shoves my ass through a small doorway, the same height as a footstool. Some might say I'm a midget anyway but with

my mummy frame and short stumpy legs, this doorway was snug to say the least. Nor did I appreciate my ass being pushed repeatedly by 2 pair of hands over threshold. More puzzles to do and time is running out.

Thank goodness for the walkie talkie to the outside world and the kind woman at the desk who took the time to settle us into the session. Neve is a natural with the walkie talkie, she calls in to say that we need help.

"What did she say Neve?"

"I don't know"

"Ask her again please"

"Hey lady, mummy didn't hear you" *hand on hip whilst eye rolling call on walkie talkie.

Oh my days! We stumble across the Queen of Hearts, not the Walt Disney's version. The Tim Burton version. The kids are screaming, crying and refusing to enter the next room! Alice in Wonderland fluffy escape room has turned dark. The kids are still freaking out and eventually I calm them down to finish the game. We did eventually find Alice. Hoorah. Kids traumatised but we all want to do another room! We've been warned about corpses, blood and gore next time... we'll see how we fair with a different room.

We did it!! We found Alice!!!
