Day 16: Fever! In the morning... Fever all through the night...

I'm writing this entry a day late. I'm feeling more and more poorly as the sun warms up for actual summertime. Grossly unfair I feel.
Today is another clinic day; sleeves rolled up, head down, time to start calling patients in.
My appointment diary is full and my voice is struggling to hold. Things are bad when patients feel sorry for you. No blue lighters today though. Silver linings and all.
Meeting with the local CCG Medicines Optimisation team today. There's been a recent reshuffle but I was pleasantly surprised to see Sunny Dhap. An amazingly talented pharmacy technician who I've met about 3 years ago now. No formalities, straight in for a friendly Kilmo hug. Obviously apologies for the germs but bought some jam doughnuts ready for the meeting.

So chuffed to see the CCG have cited the FIT UK Guidance for optimisation of pen needles. We shared some ideas of how we could maximise the interventions made by encouraging evidence based injection technique reviews and provision of good training and education. Team Slieve have some work to do for the rest of the year but overall we are moving in the right direction.

As an Antibiotic Guardian, I'm so please to see Antibiotic Stewardship on the agenda this year. Even more please that our activity indicators are all green at baseline data capture and we seem to be prescribing appropriately. There's some irony of being unwell myself for almost a week now... If I get any worse and if it goes on a little longer than I expected, of course I'll send my sorry ass off to the doctors.
